Put the date in your diary- the Ramblers Quiz Night is coming soon. Last year the night saw a record crowd of 160 people attend. It would be great to match that or even beat it this year.

Date: Sat 4 Feb
Time: From 7:30pm- Round 1 starts at 8pm.
Venue: Blackwood Memorial Hall

Bring your own food and drink, as well as lots of small change for games!

Ramblers participate at Coromandel Community Festival

On Sunday 23rd October the Ramblers participated in the annual Community Festival held at Weymouth Oval.

This year’s festival had a theme of “adventure and Explore.” The Ramblers provided cricket equipment for the kids to have a hit on the matting. We also ran a very successful BBQ which saw the Club raise funds for the facilities development.

Thank you to all senior players and junior parents who assisted on the day and helped make this event a success.

Fees are unchanged for the 5th year in a row. Please pay upfront to avoid having to be chased each game. C & D grade can pay game-by-game but it does work out more expensive – $20 or $10 for concession. This is to be paid the first week of the game to your captain or VC.

To pay up front and receive a discount you can pay either in cash or, preferably, via internet banking:

Senior Cricket Coach sought for growing club

The Coromandel Valley Ramblers Cricket Club is a successful Cricket Club in the ASCA. We have senior teams in Sec 1, 2, 4 & 7 and newly created junior teams in the u11, u13 & u15 ages of the South Central Junior Competition. The club’s A, B & 20/20 teams competed in finals in 2010/11 with the 20/20 and B grade winning the premierships. The juniors were initiated only 2 seasons ago and already has 5 teams with a Milo In2Cricket program including up to 90 participants. It is anticipated that the juniors will enter senior ranks within two seasons. The club has built a very strong base but is now ready to take the next step at senior level.

The Club is seeking applications for the role of Senior Playing / Non-Playing Coach for the upcoming season. Prior experience in playing and/or coaching higher levels of turf/hardwicket cricket will be highly regarded and candidates should possess good leadership and communication skills. Remuneration will be negotiable based on the candidates skills and experience.

The Declaration

The club thanks everyone who was involved in the preparation and implementation of these reports and the associated presentation nights where they were distributed.

Further details will be forwarded to everyone involved in the club about the Annual General Meeting shortly.

B grade win the flag!

Congratulations to the B grade who won the premiership in section 3 defeating local arch rival Coromandel Cricket Club.

Bowling first the Ramblers were looking like they were going to have to chase a big total when Coromandel were 3/120 after 40 overs. Tight bowling by Sam Davenport (20 overs 4/42) and Eddie McGough (16 overs 4/55) saw Coromandel bowled out for 163.

The Ramblers were off to a dream start at 0/101 (Howard 67, Conlon 30) but things quickly changed with us very quickly becoming 4/101. A steadying partnership in the middle order (Tonkin 30, J.Benson 29*) saw the Ramblers get home 5/167 with about 12 overs remaining.

Thank you to all family, friends and supporters of the Club who came out over the weekend to cheer for the Ramblers.

Senior Twenty20 Champions

Congratulations go to Josh Haussen for leading the club’s senior Twenty20 side to winning the Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association’s knock-out Twenty20 competition. This premiership is the first premiership for the club since 2006-07, and the first in the premier grade since 1998-99.

After losing the toss, the bowlers went to work, bowling Cove out for 80 runs before the conclusion of their 20 overs. After a short break, our put the game out of Cove’s reach by overhauling the target in the 12th over, losing only 3 wickets in the process.
