History

In the 2009/10 season, the Coromandel Ramblers Cricket Club entered into new territories by establishing a junior program for the local community. As a start, the club undertook two new approaches, with a view to establish close links with the local junior community and strive in meeting its need to play cricket in a fun and social setting.

In this season, the club undertook an in2CRICKET centre, which offered children from about 5 to 8 years of age to develop the basics skills of cricket in a family friendly environment. This program formed the basis of working the local community and establishing links between schools, other cricket programs and the club itself. This program is run by volunteers and parents for the benefit of the keenest (and youngest) cricketers around.

Further, the club also nominated an Under 11′s side in the South Central Junior Cricket Association, which played its games on Sunday morning as a means to not interrupt school cricket. Again, these games are played in a social atmosphere where skill and social development is placed as important, but a competitive aspect is also included.

Both of these programs continued in the 2010/11 season. The Club’s junior program continues to expand!
