ROUND 12 | RESULTS 2020/21
ROUND RECAP: An unfortunate wet Saturday gave way for some great T20 and junior results. A nail biting match for our under 12’s, going down to the last couple of balls!
DIV 1 T20: The Mighty Ramblers came up against Morphettville Park on Tuesday night at Weymouth in the ASCA Div 1 T20 Semi Final. Having lost the toss, we were sent into the field to try and restrict a big score from the opposition. Morphettville Park came out firing blasting 37 off the first 4 overs. Having got through the power play we slowed the game down through the spin of Nick work and the Accuracy of Zac Venning. After getting through their opening pair, it was a steady flow of wickets and Morphettville Park slumped to a sub-par score having been bowled out for 104. On the small ground of Weymouth, our openers set out to work, ticking the strike over and finding the odd boundary with perfection. A couple of wickets lost late in the innings didn’t hurt us as we cruised past their score in the 14th over. Figures with the ball:Zac Venning 3/16 off 4Ben Kanck 3/37 off 4Jacob Handke 2/21 off 3.3Fabian Saunders 1/22 off 4 including a maidenNick Work 0/7 off 4 including a maiden
Best with the bat:Laurence Borda 45* off 36Josh Rosman 34 off 37Emil Nachazel 18* off 10
Well done to the boys and thanks to everyone who came out and supported. Details about the Grand Final will be announced in the coming week. Go Ramblers ?
C GRADE: Ramblers 4 for 258 defeated Nth Haven all-out 119. Going into the field we felt confident of defending last week’s well-made 258. After a short rain delay Donnelly & Manning opened the bowling in challenging conditions. Both bowled tightly and captured early wickets and after 10 overs we had North Haven under pressure at 3 for 32. This brought Nth Haven’s captain to the crease, averaging nearly 60 for the season he immediately increased the run rate with 24 taken from 4 overs.Spano, Smith & Stallard then partnered and they gave nothing away, bowling beautifully to restrict the next 5 overs to just 12 runs before Stallard captured the crucial wicket just before drinks. This left Nth Haven 4 for 67 going into the first break. They never recovered from there and we continued to bowl tightly and captured the last 5 wickets for just 5 runs! Our bowlers were well supported in the field with the highlight being a crucial well-judged outfield catch by O’Keefe. A really pleasing all-round team performance with bat, ball and in the field.Well done all!Best with the ball:Smith 3 for 18 from 5 oversO’Keefe 2 for 1 from 2 oversDonnelly 2 for 24 from 8 oversStallard 2 for 29 from 6 oversAgain, let’s get out to training this week to prepare for next week’s home game Vs South Road. Go Ramblers!
Under 16’s: This Sunday we met Happy Valley at home on Hawthorndene oval for day 1 of a 2 day game. After 2 days of horrible weather we were unsure if we would get a start, however the pitch was playable, although damp as were the runups and the outfield and early consistent drizzle would soon turn the ball to a soggy mess.Happy Valley won the toss, chose to bat and we soon had them 1/6 in the second over with a sharp cleaned bowled from Ashley. HV then steadied and at drinks were 1/90 from 20 overs. The lads received a few words of wisdom from Steve Davenport and a replacement dry ball courtesy of the umpires and we soon had the second wicket on 97 and wickets fell steadily and the scoring slowed to be 5/139 at the 35 over break. The lads pushed hard to try and bowl them out but Happy Valley resisted to finish 8/211 from their 50 overs. We will rue a couple of bungled runout attempts and 3 dropped catches that would have made a difference, however the total is there for us to chase and we’ll give it a red hot crack next Sunday. Best of the bowlers today, Ashley in 2 superb spells with 8 overs, 1 maiden 3 wickets for 21. Other wicket takers, Ben 1/21, Luis 1/23, Sam Murphy 1/26, Josh 1/21 and Paddy 1/29.Cheers and see you at the cricket. Daz
Under 14’s: The first day of our Round 9 game began with Mitchell Park winning the toss and electing to bat. Thomas and Rohan opened the bowling and restricted the batters to 9 runs from 4 overs. The pressure mounted and James S managed to get our first breakthrough at 1/10. The runs continued to progress slowly due to our tight bowling and accurate fielding. Whilst it took a while for the second wicket to fall, all the retiring batters had few runs to their names. Wickets began to fall easier as the innings progressed and there were some excellent individual efforts but a great team result with the boys bowling Mitchell Pk out in the 38th over for 88.
Best bowling figures were James M 2/1 from 4 overs, James S 1/3 from 4 overs, with excellent support from Ben 0/5 from 4, Locky 2/6 from 4 and Jacob 1/6 from 3.4. With catches taken from James S, Gabe, Ben and Thomas(wk) the team is well placed for their batting innings next week.
Under 12’s: Sunday’s game was a real nail biter!!The teams were very even from the word go. Henry came out playing some of the finest strokes I’ve seen! followed by almost all of the team seeing out their full number of balls and most importantly being smart about their game. Well done Ramblers very impressive batting as they did have some great bowlers!! Captain Bonnie opened the bowling and the best I’ve seen this season from her. All the bowlers performed brilliantly and were rewarded by keeping them to a reasonable total until 1 lad came in and swung the bat well and lucky for them just evaded some close catches. Elliot was a ball magnet taking some great catches and on debut behind the stumps we witnessed some great potential from Mitch and Max.Josh voted on the day as best for his super tight bowling, a wicket and putting all his training into the game with another great performance with the bat! A game we deserved to win but fell short with only couple balls to go. Great stuff team!
Under 10’s: Coromandel Valley Ramblers Under 10s 11/115 def by ICC Sharks 8/134.On cool damp morning at Hawthorndene PS Captain Ben lost the toss and we were sent into bat. We batted ok but lost frequent wickets from silly run outs and being bowled playing the wrong shots. Top scores were Eamonn with 12, Ethan C 11 and Max 8. Callum retired hurt when a stray bail hit him in the eye through the helmet grill. We also bowled ok but still gave away to many no balls. Eamonn and Leon took 2 wickets with Max and Ben 1 and run outs to Ethan C and Ben. Lucas wicket kept all innings and did a great job.
