ROUND 13 | RESULTS 20/21
ROUND RECAP: Last game of the season for the 16’s, 12’s and 10’s. The A Grade win on day 1 and the B’s post a big 300 score!
A GRADE: Rd13 v Glenelg (Day 1) Coming off a disappointing result in our previous match the A Grade bounced back strongly against Glenelg, securing the win on day 1. After losing the toss and being sent into the field the bowling group made the most of the opportunity with a clinical display of bowling. Glenelg dismissed inside 44 overs for 59.An incredible effort by the group with a total of 21 maidens being bowled for the day. Ben Kanck also contributing a direct hit run out to remove the opposition skipper. Best with the ball: F. Saunders – 3/9 (10) B. Kanck – 3/14 (8.5) Z. Venning – 2/10 (10)
The Ramblers then faced out 29 overs to finish the day at 1/85 with Rosman (41*) and Baird (16*) currently at the crease. An outstanding result by the team #uptheRamblers
B GRADE: We approached the innings well which was ultimately defined by solid batting partnerships. A 62 run partnership to Borda and Emil, a 94 run partnership between Emil and Archie, a 54 run partnership to Emil and Jon, and then a 49 run partnership to Benson and AOK at the back end saw us reach our highest score of the season. Emil had his best innings of the year with 84 (120 balls), and was well supported by Jon 59 (56 balls), and Archie 41 (50 balls). After being comprehensively beaten last time we played Belair it was pleasing to post 7/311 against a full strength side on a tricky pitch that stayed low at one end. We look forward to defending the score this week.
C GRADE: Ramblers all out for 120 and Sheidow Park 0 for 3 from 7 overs. Winning the toss we elected to bat first. We lost wickets early and were not able to build partnerships throughout the day with Pablo & Smith the best for 35. Smith batted well for his 24 and Pablo, Stallard & Hansen looked good at times throughout their innings. Ben Wender made scoring look easy for a well made 37 from 54 balls with beautiful shots on both sides of the wicket. Unfortunately, we lost our last 5 wickets for 13 runs and were all out in the 50th over. This left Sheidow Pk to bat for 7 overs and despite Smith, Donnelly, Morey & Stallard bowling well we were unable to get an early breakthrough.Next week we will need to bowl and field well to take the 10 wickets but on a slow Sheidow Park outfield we are still very much in the game.Best with the bat: Wender 37 Smith 24
D GRADE: Round 13 saw our D grade playing Sheidow Park at Weymouth oval. We lost the toss and were sent in to bowl. We bowled tightly giving our opponents little to hit. At the 20th over they were 0/58 with the first wicket falling in the 28th over for 89runs. Ramblers kept up the accurate deliveries bowling them out for 175runs in the 58th over. Brian Bates bowled extremely well with 5/44 off 13overs. He was well supported by Ashley Strauss 2/19, Ashley Bates 1/13, Andrew Goudie 1/31 and Chilly 1/7. Summed up we bowled accurately continually attacking the stumps with 7of the wickets being bowled. We now need to follow this up with another good batting display to win the game.
UNDER 16’s: We resumed today at 5/29 determined to chase down the home sides score of 114, however it was not be and we found ourselves all out for 63 in 35.4 overs. Not out batters Ashley 11 and Ryan 6 with Patrick also contributing with 11 before being caught behind. With 33 overs left in the day, Port Noarlunga elected to bat for a second innings and at 3/77 and a 128 run lead at drinks we thought they may have put us back in to make an interesting contest of the game but it wasn’t to be, with the home side continuing to bat out the day, finishing their 2nd innings 9/184. Our lads applied themselves well in the field during this innings. 2 wickets to Paddy, Ashley and Ryan, 1 each to Ben, Lachy and Sam Murphy, catches 2 to Ryan, one each to Ashley and Brad and in a very good performance behind the stumps 4 catches to Joel.Highlight was the lads with only 10 players on the field setting 6 slips for the final ball of the day with Ashley taking the catch at sixth slip (more like a wide gully). For his not out innings and tight bowling taking 2 wickets in each innings, Ashley took out the Pizza Pan award. Thanks lads for an enjoyable season and all of the parents for their help and support. Cheers and see you at the cricket (next season). Daz
UNDER 14’s: Ramblers 8/252 def Morphy Parks 10/124Defending 252, we started well with Rohan taking 2 wickets in the first over! Morphies were 4/17 before fighting their way to 6/ 117. We then bowled them all out in the 27th over for 124. Best with the ball was James M 3 overs 2/10, Rohan 2 overs 2/7 and Josh 2 overs 2/6. Other wicket takers included James S, Locky and Ciaran. Special mention to Ben for his one handed diving classic catch. The boys look forward to playing in the Grand Final next week.
UNDER 12’s: We played Morphettville Red at a wet and dewy Hawthorndene School this week for the last game of the season, with Archie as Captain. We lost the toss and unsurprisingly they sent us in to bat.We batted well with Aarnav and Archie taking the lead and both not getting out. Elliot seemed to be unlucky as he dived for line, but judged to be runout. Josh S, Henry and Euan also kept the score ticking over, not losing a wicket to steady the middle order. Henry top scoring for the team with 14*, but for the ball stopping in the field this would have been a lot more. Bonnie and Dylan also recorded red ink by their names with a not out. It was a solid batting performance by the whole team on a difficult batting track. We took to the field with 73 to defend. We performed well in the field. Archie took a great high catch at mid-off and Elliot produced one of the best catches in the season at Cover. Henry took 2 catches for the match as well and Josh S did a great job behind the wickets. The bowling was tight, Bonnie produced 2 wickets for only 7 runs, with Dylan, Elliot, Aarnav and Josh S all getting a wicket. Max got a great run-out and Henry was unlucky not to get a run out which was given not out.The game came down to the wire with us needing to take only one wicket which we fell just sort of doing, however we can hold our heads up high, playing the game well and producing a great game. Well done to everyone.
UNDER 10’s: Coromandel Valley Ramblers U10s 4/119 def Morphettville Park Green 7/107.Our last game of the season at the beautiful Weymouth oval where Captain Ethan C lost the toss and we were asked to bowl. As with most games this season we still bowled too many no balls but when we did get the ball on the stumps we bowled 4 players. The pick of the bowlers was Max with 2/8, Leon 2/10 and Ethan W with 1. Ben took a good catch with Eamonn and Leon with run outs in the field. Our batting was steady throughout the innings only losing 4 wickets near the end. Ethan C continued his good form at the end with 21. At the end of game the scores were tied but we won by taking more wickets. A big thanks to all the boys for listening and improving their skills throughout the season. Hope to see them out next season. Also big thanks to all parents who assisted throughout the season especially Nick Clark, Marc and Lori Mulhall, Daniel Wolfe plus Andrea and Gus who were only here before Xmas then returning to Victoria.
