Declaration 2008/09

April 23rd, 2009

The presentation dinner was a success and a big thanks to the committee for organising it all.

Matt Smith & Peter Hough did a great job with this year’s Declaration. You can download a copy here.

I’ll put up photos of the night a bit later.

Some impressive efforts!

March 8th, 2009

Yesterday, in the first week of the final game of the season, saw some very impressive results…

  • Justin Calderbank took an incredible 7/42 off 21 overs in A-grade against Western Youth
  • Paul “Dougie” Durham made his 2nd ton for the club with a 100 in B-grade
  • Mike Jenner skittled Belair, taking 6/10 which lead to Belair only making 52

Let’s hope we can finish the year off with a bang.

Also, remember the quiz night!

Double wicket 2009

February 19th, 2009

A good turn-out for the Double Wicket comp. saw a few pretty handy teams on paper drawn out of the hat. Work & Haussen, Allen & S. Davenport and a number of others.

A few of the Belair boys came along which we appreciated greatly. It did get a bit worrisome when 2 of them got to the final against Aaron & Theo Vander Wyst.

In the end, Aaron and Theo chased down 39 to be the first father-son combo to win.

It was a good family day with egg and spoon races, 3-legged races and egg throwing competition. Damian had a good day winning longest throw, longest hit and the egg catching game partnering up with Glen.

20/20 Semi-final

January 19th, 2009

Array

The Ramblers had their semi-final against ICC on Sunday the 18th of January, and unfortunately, came up just short.

ICC batted first and were quite well held to make just 150 with their 20 overs. Some excellent late over bowling restricted the big hitting and caused a number of wickets to fall.

150 seemed like a gettable target, however the Ramblers lost Moose in the first over which put them on the back foot. Matt Smith came in and played well until getting bowled. Gilly who had also opened, hit a big, big six but couldn’t continue on, skying a top edge for a catch. Quick wickets followed with Jonny Ferris and Josh Haussen getting out to mis-timed pulls and Worky followed soon after.

So the Ramblers were 6 for about 40 at one stage. With 9 overs left, Nat Elliott and Damian Allen had got it to 6/60, so 90 remaining at 10 an over. Damian started to unleash, with everything coming off the middle. One six was thought to be one of the biggest sixes seen @ Hackham, with the ball clearing the carpark and almost landing on the soccer pitch. Huuuuge hit! Damian and Nat pushed the score along well, with Damian making 45 or so.

It was set for a big finish with 23 required off the last 18 balls, however the Ramblers fell 5 runs short.

Great to see some good support for the guys from various supporters. Looking forward to next year’s series now.

A special guest…

January 13th, 2009

The Ramblers were fortunate enough to have a special guest come and watch the Ramblers’ A-grade play on Saturday.

Array

Yvonne was at the Adelaide Oval when the Ramblers had their day at the cricket. Yvonne came over and had a chat and was given one of the wigs we were all wearing. Later on, Yvonne came and bought all 25 of us a beer. What a star!

So after ringing JC a couple of weeks back and saying she was coming to Adelaide to come and watch us play, we thought we’d put on a Ladies Day for the A-grade game.

Thanks to Matt & JC for organising the day and also to Yvonne for coming over! Very special day.
